The Process

The Process

What is the advice process?

"Through our experience and our customer successes we have defined a process that is uniquely ours. Expert in our advice and professional in our management, we talk you through your money matters step by step."

Where are you now?

At the first meeting we will get to know you and what you are trying to achieve. This will include your whole financial situation as well as general facts which will provide us with a good understanding of your circumstances.

All of this will be taken into account when we give advice.  If we are advising on investments or pensions we will ask you to fill out a risk questionnaire and discuss the risk level you are happy to take, ensuring this is in line with your expectations and financial situation.

We will ask you to provide us with the details of all your existing plans including pensions, investments, mortgages and protection products. This may seem complicated, but we can take the stress out of that.

We contact the life companies directly for information, meaning you don’t have to find all the paperwork.   We  find out all about your current plans including the risk levels, charges and performance. All of this will be put into a simple and structured format so we can explain your current contracts clearly to you.

How are your current plans performing?

Pensions and investments could be languishing in funds which are not performing as well as they could. You may see your pension as being “frozen”, meaning you are no longer paying in, but your money is still invested. It is important that you are invested in the best possible way as a  difference in performance can have a great impact on your future fund.

This is your money, it’s important to make sure it’s looked after and invested in the right place.

What about my mortgage?

We will  take the details of your mortgage and review this if necessary. You may already have arranged a competitive rate with your lender and have redemption penalties should you change the deal. This will all be noted as part of the advice we offer, and if we feel it necessary you would be referred to Paola, our whole of market mortgage adviser who can assist.

What about my life cover policies and other protection plans?

Many people take out life cover or income protection, never review the policies and carry on paying for years to come. You may have direct debits for life or protection policies where you are unsure what the plan covers. This can all be clarified for you. There are many reasons to review your cover levels to ensure your family’s financial security and to make sure you are not paying for something which is no longer relevant. You may even make a monthly saving.

What next?

Talk Money will check out how your current plans fit with your future aspirations. We will have a second meeting with you where we will go through everything, making you totally clear what you currently have, and how these fit in. We will point out any shortfalls and make suggestions how things can be improved.

Recommendation

Our recommendation may be to leave your plans with the current providers, or to rearrange or transfer certain plans; or it could be a combination of the two. We will take into account your attitude to risk and all of the gathered information when making the recommendation. We will recommend ways of reaching your goals, whether this may be saving more into your pension or changing how your plans are invested. We will go through the charges clearly and ensure you are happy with these and the ongoing service we will provide.

Review

Finally, we will discuss reviews with you. If we have arranged an investment or pension we provide an annual review to ensure you remain on track. If you have taken a mortgage we can make a note and contact you just before your initial rate ends.
